"He splits the dawn [206] and has made the night for rest, and the sun and the moon for reckoning [207]. That is the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing [208]."
This verse refers to the moment when light first appears in the east, resembling a thread splitting darkness. This natural event is a sign of Allah’s power. Spiritually, it also symbolizes how Allah splits the darkness of disbelief and spreads the light of Prophethood, guiding humanity through revelation.
Allah made the moon for lunar months and the sun for solar calculations. Through the moon, Islamic acts of worship like fasting and Hajj are timed, while the sun determines daily prayer timings. These heavenly bodies reflect the precision and power of divine decree, serving as instruments of reckoning.
This verse highlights that mathematical order in the cosmos reflects Allah’s wisdom and might. The arrangement of the heavens and earth is a manifestation of His all-encompassing knowledge. It shows that mathematics is a noble science, revealing the systematic beauty of divine creation.
