📖 Commentary of Surah Al-An’aam – Verse 47

"Say, 'Have you considered: if the punishment of Allah should come to you suddenly or openly, will anyone be destroyed except for the unjust people?'" [93]

✅ Divine Punishment Targets the Disbelievers [93]

In this verse, “the unjust” refers to the disbelievers, for it is they who face destruction through Allah’s punishment. Whether the punishment comes suddenly or clearly, it is meant to wipe out the deniers of truth. If animals or innocent believers are caught in it, such loss is not a punishment for them. According to Hadith, it becomes a means of elevation for the righteous. This verse specifically refers to manifest punishments—those visible calamities that befell previous nations. As for hidden or indirect forms of punishment, such as famine, disease, or destruction, they also occur by Allah’s Will and serve divine wisdom.
