Transliteration:( Qul innee 'alaa baiyinatim mir Rabbee wa kazzabtum bih; maa 'indee maa tasta'jiloona bih; inil hukmu illaa lillaahi yaqussul haqqa wa Huwa khairul faasileen )
"Please declare (O Beloved Prophet): 'I have the shining proof [115] from my Lord and you falsify it. I have not that with me for which you are hastening [116]. There is no order but of Allah. He explains the truth, and He is the Best of Judges.'" [117]
The term “shining proof” refers to the Light of Prophethood, the Light of the Qur’an, and the Divine Knowledge bestowed upon the Holy Prophet ﷺ. He is not only a bearer of light but is himself a living proof of Allah’s truth, as stated: “Undoubtedly a manifest argument has come to you from your Lord” (Surah 4:175). The Holy Prophet ﷺ is that clear proof.
The Prophet ﷺ clarifies that Divine Punishment is not within his personal control. If it were up to him, punishment would have already been sent upon the guilty. However, this does not deny that punishment can descend through his curse or that he has been given authority over Paradise and Hell by Allah’s permission. His role, however, remains that of mercy, as affirmed: “And We have not sent you but as a mercy to the worlds” (Surah 21:107).
The verse confirms that all final commands and decisions rest with Allah alone. However, this does not negate delegated authority, such as the rulings of Prophets, Saints, and Judges, which function under Divine will. As mentioned in Surah 4:59: “Obey Allah, obey the Messenger, and those in authority among you”. The obedience to delegated authorities is only valid through Allah’s permission and command.

Please refer to Surah Anam ayat 55 which provides the complete commentary from verse 55 through 59.
(6:57) Say: ‘I take stand upon a clear evidence from my Lord and it is that which you have given the lie to. That which you desire to be hastened is not within my power.[39] Judgement lies with Allah alone. He declares the Truth, and He is the best judge.’
39. This alludes to God’s punishment. The adversaries questioned why it was that they had openly rejected a Prophet sent by God, but had not been struck down by God’s wrarth? They said that the fact of his appointment by God meant that anyone who either disbelieved or insulted him would, at once, be either plunged into the earth or struck by lightning. And yet, they pointed out, the Messenger of God and his followers faced new sufferings and humiliations whereas those who abused and persecuted him enjoyed prosperity.
[311]- The disbelievers would challenge the Prophet (ﷺ), telling him to bring on Allāh's punishment if he should be truthful in his warning.
