Transliteration:( Summa lam takun fitnatuhum illaaa an qaaloo wallaahi Rabbinaa maa kunnaa mushrikeen )
"Then there will remain no fabrication for them, but to say: 'By Allah, our Lord! We were not polytheists'" [46]
On the Day of Judgement, the polytheists will initially attempt to deny their acts of shirk, declaring, “By Allah, our Lord! We were not polytheists.” This statement is not a result of confusion or forgetfulness but a conscious and deliberate lie. As Allah says: “That day when man will call to mind all that he strove for” (Surah 79:35), it is evident that every soul will have full awareness of its past actions. The phrase “they lied against themselves” clarifies that their denial is intentional, and thus, the meaning of the verse is crystal clear and consistent.
