Surah Al-Anam Ayat 65 Tafsir (Commentry)

130. From this is understood that wars between nations and the carnage therein is a punishment from Allah Almighty in which Muslims are presently caught. This is due to their evil deeds.

131. By this is meant either the infidels who may learn to understand these verses and thereby become believers or Muslims in general who at seeing these signs and Powers of Allah give up their indifferent attitude towards their religion. It is reported in the Hadith that when this portion of the verses was revealed in which Allah says He has the power to send punishment to you from above, the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said: "O Allah I seek refuge in thee" and when to make your encounter was revealed the Holy Prophet said "This would be easy" (Bukhari Shareef) should not be locked in battle with one another. This dua was not accepted. (Khazainul Irfaan) said: "Oh Allah! I seek refuge in Thee," and when "beneath your feet," was revealed, he said: "Oh Allah I seek refuge in Thee!" and when "make you encounter" was revealed the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم " This would be easy said: (Bukhari Shareef). In Muslim Shareef it is reported that the Messenger of Allah made three dua’s to Allah Almighty of which two were accepted. One was Oh Allah do not destroy my followers by prolonged drought. The second was do not destroy them through drowning. These two prayers were accepted. The third was that they should not be locked in battle with one another. This dua was not accepted. (Khazainul Irfaan)

(6:65) Say: “It is He Who has the power to send forth chastisement upon you from above you, or from beneath your feet, or split you into hostile groups and make some of you taste each others’ violence. Behold, how We set forth Our signs in diverse forms, so that maybe they will understand the Truth”.[42]

Ala-Maududi

(6:65) Say: “It is He Who has the power to send forth chastisement upon you from above you, or from beneath your feet, or split you into hostile groups and make some of you taste each others’ violence. Behold, how We set forth Our signs in diverse forms, so that maybe they will understand the Truth”.[42]

42. God’s punishment can strike in an instant. This is the warning to those who, supposing such punishment to he remote, were growing bolder in their hostility towards the Truth. They could be destroyed in a moment by a hurricane. Just a few earthquake trernors could raze villages and cities to the ground. Likewise, a few spark, of hostility could ultimately wreak such havoc among tribes. nations and countries that bloodshed and lawlessness plague them for years on end. Hence if they are spared punishments for a while that should not drug them to heedlessness and lead them to live in total disregard of distinctions between right and wrong. They should rather he grateful that God had given thern respite and by means of a number of signs He was making it possible for thern to recognize the Truth and foliow it.
