Transliteration:( Wa laa takoonoo kallazeena tafarraqoo wakhtalafoo mim ba'di maa jaaa'ahumul baiyinaat; wa ulaaa'ika lahum 'azaabun 'azeem )
"And do not be like those who became divided into sects and disagreed among themselves [235] after clear proofs had come to them. They will face a great punishment [236]."
It should be clearly understood that the one guilty of causing disunity and division is the person who has deviated from the path of the Muslims by introducing irreligious innovations into the religion. In contrast, the one who remains firm on the teachings of Islam is not to be blamed. Allah Almighty says: “And one who follows a way other than the way of Muslims – We shall leave him on his own” (Surah An-Nisa, Verse 115). Therefore, the followers of Ahl-e-Sunnat are on the right path, and all other sects that introduce deviations bear the responsibility for creating division among Muslims.
From this, we learn that the transgression of a learned person is far more dangerous than that of an ignorant one. In fact, it can result in the worst kind of punishment, as the learned one may mislead entire communities through a single act of deviation. Hence the verse says: “after clear proofs had come to them”, indicating that despite having access to divine guidance, their conscious deviation caused greater harm. The misguidance that arises after knowledge and evidence is more blameworthy and severe in consequence.

(3:105) Do not be like those who fell into factions and differed among themselves[86] after clear signs had come to them. A mighty chastisement awaits them.
86. The reference is to those communities which received clear and straightforward teachings of the true religion but who had abandoned the fundamentals, forming separate sects around trivial and subsidiary questions; they became so engrossed in quarrelling over superfluous and insignificant questions that they lost sight of the mission God had entrusted to them, and even lost interest in those fundamentals of belief and righteous conduct which are essential for man’s salvation and felicity.
