“O you who believe! Be patient and encourage patience, and remain steadfast, and fear Allah, so that you may be successful.” [456]
This verse, which concludes Surah Aal-e-Imran, is a divine command and encouragement to the believers, particularly in the context of hardship, warfare, and trials of faith.
Allah commands:
Be patient (ṣbirū) – remain personally steadfast during trials.
Encourage patience (ṣābirū) – motivate others to be firm and united.
Remain stationed (rābiṭū) – implying physical readiness and guarding the frontlines.
Fear Allah – uphold taqwa, which is the root of all obedience and spiritual success.
From this, we learn:
Guarding the frontiers of Islamic lands is an act of ‘ibadah (worship).
These regions are constantly under threat, and soldiers posted there live in a state of constant readiness, which is rewarded like active jihad.
Even preparing for jihad, including remaining alert and stationed in high-risk areas, is considered an act of devotion.

Please refer to Surah Imran ayat 199 which provides the complete commentary from verse 199 through 200.
(3:200) Believers, be steadfast, and vie in steadfastness,[141] stand firm in your faith, and hold Allah in fear that you may attain true success.
141. The original Arabic word is ” sabiru”. This has two possible meanings. One is that whenever they are in confrontation with unbelievers, the believers should endure even greater hardships for their cause, and display a higher degree of fortitude than the unbelievers. The other is that the believers should try to excel one another in facing the opposition and hostility of unbelievers with courage and fortitude.
[152]- In your religion and in the face of your enemies. [153]- In patience, outlasting your enemies, and against your own evil inclinations. [154]- Posted at your positions against the enemy or in the mosques, awaiting prayers.
