Transliteration:( Wa la'in qutiltum fee sabeelil laahi aw muttum lamaghfiratum minal laahi wa rahmatun khairum mimmaa yajma'oon )
“And what if you are slain in the Cause of Allah or die [354]? Then the forgiveness from Allah and His mercy is better than all that they amass [355].”
By “dying in the path of Allah Almighty” is meant dying while being actively engaged in the work of Allah. This includes dying while:
Making Zikr (remembrance) of Allah
Being in a state of worship
Engaged in religious or educational work
All of these forms of death are counted as dying in the path of Allah, and as a result, the person receives divine forgiveness and mercy.
The word “better” here refers to the fact that dying in the cause of Allah Almighty is far superior to all the worldly wealth accumulated by disbelievers.
It should be noted that this worldly wealth is not actually better—rather, it is described as such according to the disbelievers' perception. That is, this martyrdom and divine mercy are infinitely better than what the disbelievers consider valuable.
