📖 Commentary / Tafsir of Surah Aal-e-Imran – Verse 107

"But as for those whose faces turn white, they will be in the mercy of Allah, and they will abide therein eternally [239]."

✅ [239] The Eternal Mercy for the Righteous

From this verse, we learn that those whose faces turn black—as mentioned in the previous verse—will be eternal inmates of Hell, while those whose faces turn white will dwell forever in Allah’s mercy, which refers to Paradise.

From this emerge two key points:

  1. No matter how sinful a believer may be, if Allah wills, his face will not be blackened on the Day of Judgement. The blackening of the face is specifically reserved for disbelievers. However, the faces of sinful believers may show specks of blemishes, dust, or dullness, indicating their moral shortcomings.

  2. On the Day of Judgement, the faces of people will reflect their inner states — like a living book from Allah Almighty. Just as in the worldly life, faces can reveal internal illnesses, on that day, they will reveal piety or impiety. The pious scholars (Ulema) and the saints (Awliya) will be easily recognized by the radiance of their faces.
