Transliteration:( Balaaa; in tasbiroo wa tattaqoo wa ya'tookum min fawrihim haazaa yumdidkum Rabbukum bikhamsati aalaafim minal malaaa'ikati musawwimeen )
"Yes, why not! If you remain steadfast and become pious, and the infidels come upon you instantly [271], then your Lord will send five thousand angels with marks for your help [272]."
These words are either spoken by Allah Almighty in affirmation of the statement made by the Holy Prophet ﷺ, or they are words of the Prophet ﷺ himself, which Allah narrates in the verse. In either case, the verse proves that the Holy Prophet ﷺ had prior knowledge of the divine help that would come during the Battle of Badr, as these verses were revealed to confirm this glad tidings.
From this verse, we learn that all the Muhajireen and Ansaar who participated in the Battle of Badr are testified by the Holy Qur'an to be embodiments of patience and piety. During this battle, angels were sent down to aid the believers, and some Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were even able to see these angels.
Additionally, these angels are regarded as having a higher status than other angels, as they were sent with distinctive marks or ensigns by the command of Allah Almighty, setting them apart from other heavenly beings. From this, we understand that the service rendered by the Holy Prophet ﷺ and the soldiers of Islam is a form of worship of the highest order, since these special angels were appointed to serve and assist them. Hence, the Companions of the Holy Prophet ﷺ are superior to all other believers, because they were honoured to serve alongside the Prophet ﷺ himself.
