📖 Commentary of Surah Aal-e-Imran – Verse 171

“They rejoice with what has been bestowed upon them of the bounties of Allah [389]. And Allah does not waste the reward of Muslims [390].”

✅ [389] The Superior Reward of Martyrs

This verse emphasizes that martyrs rejoice in the abundant bounties Allah has granted them. From this, we learn several important points:

  • The good deeds of non-believers are ultimately rendered void, as they do not meet the primary condition of faith (Iman). Without belief, no act carries lasting value in the sight of Allah.

  • The reward of martyrs is superior and abundant, because while others may sacrifice wealth, time, or energy, martyrs sacrifice their very lives—the greatest offering one can make. Therefore, their reward is all-encompassing.

  • Allah never wastes the efforts of a true believer, no matter how small or great.

  • A believer holds deep respect for sacred matters, especially for the lofty status of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.

It is further noted that disrespect toward the Prophet ﷺ is considered apostasy, and any such disrespect nullifies all good deeds. The disbelievers who raised their voices above the voice of the Prophet ﷺ are an example—all their deeds became worthless due to their arrogance.

✅ [390] Allah’s Justice in Rewarding Believers

Allah's assurance that He does not waste the reward of Muslims is a reminder of His justice and generosity. It serves as comfort to those who strive sincerely, ensuring that every sacrifice, especially the ultimate sacrifice of life, is recognized and rewarded without loss.
